**Ukraine Conducts Large-Scale Security Crackdown**
The Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) conducted 157 special operations from January 18-20. The agency reported a wave of investigations, arrests, and charges in recent days.
**Crackdown on Suspects**
The SBU’s actions resulted in 222 charges and 85 detentions. They also carried out 287 searches during the three-day period. The crackdown targeted individuals suspected of various crimes, including aiding Russia‘s war effort.
**Key Targets**
The SBU charged 19 agents with carrying out intelligence and sabotage activities on behalf of Russian special services. Another 24 individuals were accused of harming Ukraine’s economic interests. The agency also targeted draft evasion schemes, charging 63 people in connection with the issue.
**Other Charges**
39 individuals were charged with crimes related to the military, including embezzling from the state defense budget. Seven others were accused of illegal weapons trafficking, and seven more were suspected of spreading propaganda or posing threats to Ukraine’s cybersecurity.
**President Praises Efforts**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky praised law enforcement agencies for their work on January 18, saying that “traitors” and schemes weakening the state would be countered. He warned those who stand against Ukraine or defy its laws will face a response.
