A company in Ukraine has been accused of helping Russia build nuclear weapons laboratories.
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) investigated the building materials company and found out that they sent metal products to Russia. These products were used to build labs at the Russian Institute for Nuclear Research.
The SBU says that these labs are being used to develop new models of nuclear-powered missile weapons. The investigation found that the company tried to hide this shipment by sending the goods to a third-party company in the Middle East first, and then from there to Russia.
Four people have been charged with treason: the owner of the company and three of their subordinates. If convicted, they could face up to 12 years in prison and have some of their property taken away.
This is one of several recent announcements from Ukrainian law enforcement agencies accusing people of treason and helping Russia’s war efforts against Ukraine.
