**Ukraine’s SBU Detains Russian Spy Ring in Kharkiv**
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has arrested four people suspected of being part of a Russian spy ring in the city of Kharkiv. According to the SBU, these individuals allegedly worked with Russia‘s military intelligence agency, GRU.
**Russian Agents Active in Ukraine Since 2022**
Since 2022, the SBU has been cracking down on Russian agents operating in Ukraine. Most cases involve Russians offering money to Ukrainian soldiers to set their cars on fire. The SBU believes that these networks help facilitate espionage and sabotage activities for Russia.
**Suspects Accused of Terrorism and Sabotage**
The arrested individuals include a software engineer, a former military serviceman, and two unemployed people. They are accused of carrying out a car bombing in June that severely injured a Ukrainian service member. The suspects allegedly tracked the car’s parking location, planted an improvised explosive device under it, and conducted surveillance before doing so.
**Additional Attacks Planned**
At the time of their arrest, the suspects were reportedly preparing additional attacks against the Ukrainian Armed Forces. One of their tasks was to cause an accident on a railway to prevent the transportation of Ukrainian military equipment to the front line.
**Evidence Seized and Charges Considered**
During searches, investigators seized explosives, mobile phones, and computers containing evidence. The suspects face charges of state treason under martial law and illegal handling of explosive substances. Additional charges of sabotage and terrorism are being considered.
