**Ukrainian Military Cadet Charged with Treason**
An 18-year-old military cadet has been arrested for allegedly helping Russian spies. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) made the announcement on January 24.
**Allegations of Betrayal**
The cadet, who was training in Lviv Oblast, is accused of sharing sensitive information with a Russian agent in exchange for money. This included details about military facilities, troop movements, and damage caused by shelling in the area.
**Preventing Attacks**
Law enforcement officers discovered the cadet’s activities and stopped potential attacks on Ukrainian military positions. She used a messaging app to send the locations of training facilities and barracks, which had been moved from Kharkiv to Lviv after Russia invaded Ukraine.
**Evacuation Plan Foiled**
The Russian agent allegedly planned to take the cadet out of Ukraine through a third country once her mission was complete. However, she was caught by the SBU while trying to send coordinates to the FSB and leave the military institute. A phone and laptop containing evidence were seized during searches.
**Charges and Detention**
The cadet is being held without bail, and a court has imposed a preventive measure of detention under Article 208 of Ukraine’s Criminal Procedure Code. The charges carry a penalty of up to 15 years or life imprisonment, along with the confiscation of property.
