The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has started a criminal investigation into reports that the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence made a statement about a threat to the country’s existence. This was reported by Ukrainska Pravda on January 31.
According to the media outlet, Kyrylo Budanov, the head of HUR, allegedly warned of serious consequences for Ukraine if negotiations do not begin by summer. However, HUR has denied this report, saying it is false.

The SBU investigation involves individuals who had access to a classified parliamentary session where Budanov’s alleged statement was made. The case was opened under the law that deals with revealing state secrets.
