Protests in Serbia Can No Longer Be Ignored
Andreas Schieder, a member of the European Parliament from Austria, says that protests in Serbia are no longer just small demonstrations. They have become huge and cannot be ignored or stopped by force.
The protests started after a train station roof collapsed in November. Hundreds of thousands of people took to the streets demanding justice, democracy, and an end to corruption. They are angry with the government of Aleksandar Vučić for its corrupt practices.
Schieder says that the authorities have only used violence against the protesters. He thinks it’s time for their demands to be heard. The Social Democrats in the European Parliament have supported the protesters from the beginning.
