**Scotland Marks Third Anniversary of Ukraine Invasion**
A special service was held at the National War Memorial in Scotland to mark the third anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The event was attended by First Minister John Swinney, Ukrainian dignitaries, and members of the Scottish community.
The ceremony took place at Edinburgh Castle, where a choir sang the Ukrainian national anthem. Other events were also held in Edinburgh and Aberdeen, including protests against Russia. Ukraine’s consul in Edinburgh, Andriy Madzyanovsky, was among those who attended the service.
**Support for Ukraine**
Mr. Madzyanovsky spoke of his gratitude to the Scottish people and government for their support. “Every minute, every hour, our countrymen are shedding blood to resist the Russian invasion,” he said. He also warned against “appeasement” in any negotiations with Russia, saying that Ukrainians must enter talks from a strong position.
First Minister Swinney expressed Scotland’s solidarity with Ukraine on its third anniversary of independence. He praised the strength and beauty of the Ukrainian national anthem being sung at the service. Mr. Swinney also spoke about the sacrifice made by Jordan Maclachlan, a 26-year-old medic who was killed in January while serving with the Ukrainian army.
**Tributes to Jordan Maclachlan**
The family of Jordan Maclachlan were also at the service. First Minister Swinney said that he had spoken to them and hoped they felt the support and encouragement of their fellow Scots. Mr. Madzyanovsky paid tribute to Mr. McLachlan, saying “he died not only for Ukraine, he died for human values”.
