I am becoming more and more worried about the steps backwards taken in Georgia. In the last few weeks, more than 50 journalists were beaten. Jim Risch, member of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee said that one of them died from injuries.
The senator also spoke of the Supreme Court Judges, pointing out that this was in contravention with the April 19 agreement.
“Several judges have been appointed to the Supreme Court in violation of the April 19 agreement. I know Senator Shaheen also shares my concerns in this regard. We have had several discussions about it. I hope we can work with the Georgian Government to discuss these issues,” said the Senator.
The hearing of the Foreign Affairs Committee was held on 20 July.
