**North Korea Sends Artillery to Russia**
North Korea has given Russia around 200 long-range artillery pieces. This is according to the South Korean Defense Ministry, as reported by Yonhap on February 11.
**Russia’s War Effort**
These artillery pieces are part of a larger package of military support that North Korea has provided to Russia. The country has also sent ballistic missiles and millions of artillery shells. Additionally, up to 12,000 North Korean troops have been deployed to Russia’s Kursk Oblast to help Russian forces fight against Ukraine.
**Trade-Offs**
The South Korean Defense Ministry suspects that North Korea is receiving technological assistance from Russia in exchange for its military support. This includes help with nuclear-powered submarines and intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM). North Korea may also be producing drones with Russian technical assistance this year.
**Human Losses**
At least 300 North Korean soldiers have been killed and another 2,700 wounded fighting in Russia’s Kursk Oblast, according to South Korea’s National Intelligence Service. Ukraine claims that up to 4,000 North Koreans have been killed or injured.
