**South Korea Denies Ukraine‘s Weapon Request**
Ukraine has asked South Korea to sell it some important defense systems, but South Korea said no. A high-level Ukrainian military delegation visited South Korea recently and met with the country’s leaders.
The Ukrainian team was led by Defense Minister Umierov. They wanted to buy things like missiles and radars that could help them defend themselves against enemy air attacks. However, the South Korean government decided not to sell these systems to Ukraine.
This decision comes at a time when North Korea is helping Russia in its war with Ukraine. South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol said that his country might consider selling weapons to Ukraine because of concerns about North Korea’s involvement in the conflict.
The Ukrainian delegation asked South Korea for things like missiles, radars, and artillery propellants. They were especially interested in buying non-lethal equipment. However, the South Korean government told defense companies not to interact with the Ukrainians on their own.
South Korea said no to selling weapons to Ukraine because of trade restrictions that could be broken by doing so. The country’s defense industry also doesn’t have enough supplies to sell right now. Some systems like the Cheongung missile system won’t be available for sale until 2030.
