**Ukraine Captures Injured North Korean Soldier**
South Korea’s spy agency has confirmed that Ukrainian forces have captured an injured North Korean soldier. This is the first North Korean prisoner of war to be taken since December.
The soldier was sent to support Russia’s war in Ukraine. It’s believed that over 10,000 North Korean soldiers have been deployed to help Russia, although this has not been officially confirmed by Moscow or Pyongyang.
**Heavy Casualties**
It’s reported that more than 3,000 North Korean troops have died or been wounded while fighting in Kursk. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that the collaboration between Russia and North Korea increases the risk of destabilization around the Korean peninsula.
This news comes after a photo was shared on Telegram showing the injured soldier. The BBC has spoken to former soldiers who say that North Korean troops are skilled fighters, but may be underestimated by some.
