Serbian Parliament to Close for the Weekend
The Serbian Parliament has decided to close its building over the weekend. This is being done to prevent any problems at a planned protest in Belgrade on Saturday.
A letter sent to lawmakers and staff said that the decision was made after police looked at the situation and wanted to avoid any possible trouble or conflict. The two buildings where parliament meets will be closed until midnight on March 16.
The letter explained that this decision was taken for security reasons only. It wants to make sure that the planned gathering in front of the National Assembly building on Saturday is safe and peaceful.
The decision was not posted on the parliament’s website by Friday afternoon.
