**Serbian Patriarch Calls for Peace in Christmas Message**
The Serbian Orthodox Church‘s Patriarch Porfirije has released his annual Christmas message. In it, he spoke about the tragedy that happened in Novi Sad last year when a concrete awning at the city’s central train station collapsed, killing 15 people and injuring two more.
Patriarch Porfirije is calling for an end to hostilities and for people to follow the example of Serbian Saint Sava. Saint Sava was able to reconcile his feuding brothers and bring peace to the country. The Patriarch is urging people to look at themselves and others, and pray for strength to learn from past tragedies.
He also mentioned the current state of affairs in Serbia and the world, highlighting the importance of being brothers and true Christians. He emphasized that reconciliation requires effort and forgiveness from all parties involved.
Patriarch Porfirije expressed concern about the dehumanization of others, which can lead to conflicts and wars. He encouraged people to bridge gaps between themselves, listen to each other’s views, and respect differing opinions.
In his message to Kosovo and Metohija, the Patriarch stated that the Serbian people have been the most endangered and unprotected in Europe for a quarter century.
