**Serbian Tabloids Delete Articles to Avoid Shutdown**
A group called Cenzolovka, which watches out for media freedom in Serbia, says that pro-government tabloids are deleting articles about student protesters. The reason is simple: they don’t want to get shut down.
The deleted articles were mostly about students who had taken over their universities. These students were protesting the deaths of 15 people at a train station in Novi Sad. The articles that were removed made unbacked claims and contained hate speech against the protesters. This was against both Serbian and European Union rules.
An IT expert named Vladimir Cicovic helped get these articles deleted. He contacted the companies that host these tabloids’ websites and threatened to take them to court. As a result, the offensive stories were removed from the internet.
