Georgia Can Join 3+3 Format, Says Russia’s Lavrov
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Georgia can join the 3+3 format. This is a group of countries working together to discuss regional issues.
Lavrov spoke at a press conference about the initiative of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. They proposed creating a 3+3 mechanism with three South Caucasus countries – Azerbaijan, Armenia, and Georgia – and their neighbors Russia, Turkey, and Iran.
Georgia has not yet joined this group. However, Lavrov said that’s okay. He stated that the place is still available for Georgia to take part in discussions about regional issues. The first contacts have already been made with Georgia, but they haven’t taken their place at the table yet.
