Sergey Shamba, secretary of the so called security council of occupied Abkhazia, said that the president of Abkhazia cannot negotiate the accession of Abkhazia to Russia.
Shamba commented on Aslan Bhania’s visit in Moscow and said the “constitution of occupied Abkhazia does not allow discussion on this topic”.
“Such issues can’t be resolved in this way – the president went, came back and we are now part of Russia. He said that the constitution does not allow this topic to be discussed.
He also stated that Abkhazia doesn’t discuss topics related to “loss or independence” or “loss of sovereignty”.
Shamba claims that Abkhazia criminalises “raising such a question”.
“We haven’t discussed anything like this with the leadership in the Russian Federation.” We only heard that the recognition of Abkhazia was not subject to revision. This has been done numerous times. “Both the Russian Federation President and other officials have spoken about it,” Shamba said.
