Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili Comments on President‘s Future Plans
Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili was asked about the plans of outgoing President Salome Zurabishvili following Mikheil Kavelashvili’s inauguration. Papuashvili expressed his belief that President Zurabishvili’s advisors will give her sound advice not to act against the Georgian people.
The Orbeliani Palace, where President Zurabishvili currently resides, does not belong to her personally, according to Papuashvili. He stated that the building belongs to the Georgian people and their president. Therefore, he expects President Zurabishvili’s advisors to advise her against acting against the people.
Papuashvili also commented on statements from opposition party representatives suggesting that Salome Zurabishvili would remain the president. He called this “the opposition’s duplicity.” The opposition has always supported Mikheil Saakashvili as their preferred president, and now they seem to be embracing President Zurabishvili in a similar way.
