Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, has responded to an initiative by the opposition party. They want the President to be involved in canceling the election lists.
Papuashvili said that they will think about a future presidential candidate after the parliament’s assembly. He also commented on claims made by opposition parties about election fraud.
He said the opposition is stuck in the past and using old arguments to talk about modern issues. The opposition claimed there were problems with machines and technology during the elections, but Papuashvili said these are not valid points.
“The opposition and their friends can’t explain what they’re talking about,” Papuashvili said. “They just want to make claims without real arguments.” He added that they are calmly watching this process and it will pass.
