**US Suspends Strategic Partnership with Georgia**
The United States has decided to suspend its strategic partnership with Georgia. This decision was made by the US government, despite being in a transition period.
According to Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, this is regrettable. He believes that such decisions should not be made when power is being transferred from one administration to another. It creates an unfair situation for the future president of Georgia.
**Cooperation Between US and Georgia Lacking**
Shalva Papuashvili also stated that cooperation between the US and Georgia has been passive over the years. The strategic partnership, which included a free trade agreement, visa-free travel, and direct flights, did not live up to its potential. The council set up under this partnership has not met for several years.
Papuashvili expressed his disappointment with the lack of active cooperation between the two countries. He hoped that their partnership would be more productive, but unfortunately, it remained passive.
