Georgia’s Parliament Chairman, Shalva Papuashvili, recently spoke with journalists. He expressed his views on the dissolution of parliament and early elections.
Papuashvili said that calling for early elections is a pointless idea. He claimed that it would be as effective to schedule the World Cup in Tbilisi. According to him, this decision would have the same legal force.
He also criticized Nika Gvaramia, a leader of the Coalition for Change. Papuashvili stated that Gvaramia’s suggestion to hold early elections shows he does not understand the law. He believes even President Salome Zurabishvili cannot take this seriously.
The chairman said that Georgia will have a new president on December 29th. He described it as an opportunity for the country to recover from internal and external threats.
