**European Union Punishes Georgia**
The European Union is punishing the country of Georgia. This is because many people in Georgia did not vote for the government that some EU countries wanted them to choose.
**EU’s Visa-Free Regime Suspended**
The EU has suspended a special visa-free regime for Georgian diplomats and politicians. They have also taken money meant for the government and given it to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) instead.
**Punishment, Not Fairness**
According to Shalva Papuashvili, the Speaker of Georgia’s Parliament, this is not fair. He says that many EU countries broke international law by interfering in Georgian elections. The people of Georgia chose a different government, and now they are being punished for it.
**Double Standards**
Papuashvili also pointed out that having an EU passport does not mean someone is loyal to European values. Unfortunately, he said, there are many examples where people with EU passports do not behave in a way that respects those values.
