Western Democracy: A Double Standard?
Speaker of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili has written a post on Facebook about the state of democracy in Western countries.
He pointed out that a prominent leader in France is facing arrest, while a popular party in Germany is being abolished. In the US, a presidential candidate was threatened with 561 years in prison, but later became president and the case against them was dropped.
Papuashvili noted that these actions seem to be against the principles of democracy. He quoted an old saying: “You can’t see a log in your own eye and look for fur in someone else’s.”
