**Parliament Chairman Speaks Out Against Violence at Demonstrations**
The Chairman of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, has spoken out against the use of force by demonstrators. He said that no matter how many thousands of people are involved, using force is never acceptable.
According to Papuashvili, the police and state have the right to use force to prevent crime. However, the demonstrations on Rustaveli Avenue in Georgia have become violent, with participants attacking police officers and setting fire to places with pyrotechnics.
Papuashvili said that the law enforcement officers are doing their best to prevent violence, but it’s getting harder due to chaotic behavior from some individuals at the demonstration. He added that many crimes went unresponded during these days, as rioters were shooting directly at police officers.
The Chairman also criticized the Public Defender‘s statements for being out of touch with reality. Papuashvili said that when attackers open fire or throw torches, it’s not peaceful, and the public defender’s approach seems to excuse anyone who attacks.
Papuashvili questioned how the public defender imagines arresting people from a large crowd, citing broken windows and damaged property as examples of the level of violence involved. He emphasized that this is not a question of Europeanness or human values, but rather a matter of law and order.
