**Georgian Parliament Chairman Criticizes Protest on Rustaveli Avenue**
The protest on Rustaveli Avenue has nothing to do with Georgian culture, says the Chairman of the Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili. He claims that everything is going according to a pre-planned scenario.
Papuashvili said that they had predicted this outcome long before. “We knew that Salome Zurabishvili would not schedule the session of the Parliament,” he explained. “And now, we see a repeat of what happened in 2020.”
**A Scripted Protest?**
The Chairman also accused the protesters of following a scripted plan to create chaos and violence. “They don’t even hide it,” he said. “Even the Christmas tree was decorated as they did on the Maidan.” He also pointed out that a newly married couple had decorated their Christmas tree with protest posters, further demonstrating the lack of originality.
Papuashvili reminded everyone that more than 100 people died during the Maidan protests. He emphasized that this type of violence and lawlessness is not part of Georgian culture.
**A Parallel to the Putsch of the 90s**
The Chairman compared the current situation to the putsch of the 1990s, when a group attempted to overthrow the government using violence. “The machine guns were replaced with machine guns,” he said. “But the scene and shots are the same.”
