**Georgia‘s Speaker of Parliament Speaks Out**
The Speaker of Georgia’s Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, has spoken out about the country’s history and its approach to international relations. He said that Georgia has been in a difficult situation for at least 3,000 years.
**Trusting Others Can Be Harmful**
Papuashvili compared Georgia’s situation with that of Ukraine. He said that if Ukraine had trusted other countries, it would be in a much worse state today. In February 2022, Ukraine was given support by many countries, but it did not seem to help the country.
**Focus on National Interests**
Papuashvili emphasized that an independent country should focus on its own national interests, not rely on others for support. He said that Georgia has learned from its past experiences and now prioritizes its own needs.
**No More Red Carpets**
The Speaker of Parliament also made a reference to Ukrainian President Zelensky, who was widely supported by the international community before the current conflict. Papuashvili said that it’s clear now that relying on others for support can be a “beggar’s position”.
