**Opposition Leader Attacked in Hotel, Video Footage May Be Destroyed**
A member of the opposition party Gakharia for Georgia has accused the Sheraton Hotel in Batumi and the government of a possible cover-up. Natia Mezvrishvili wrote on Facebook that the hotel told her they no longer have a copy of the video footage from the January 15 attack on Giorgi Gakharia, the leader of the party.
Mezvrishvili suspects that the footage may have been destroyed or falsified. She accuses the hotel of complicity in hiding evidence and suggests that the government may be involved in a cover-up.
**Hotel Said to Have Destroyed Footage**
According to Mezvrishvili, the hotel initially assured her that a copy of the video footage would be available even if the police took it. However, when she asked for the footage, the hotel said they no longer had it and had sent everything to the investigators.
Mezvrishvili believes that the only reason the hard drive was removed was to destroy or falsify the evidence. She also expressed concern about the delay in the investigation, saying that the investigators were “practically hiding” from questioning Giorgi Gakharia.
**Investigation Delayed**
The party had requested to question Giorgi Gakharia, but the investigator made them wait for three hours before deciding not to do so. The case was then transferred to the prosecutor’s office, and the party waited until this morning to learn that the prosecutor was disappearing and rushing to the Sheraton hotel.
**Opposition Leader Attacked in January**
Giorgi Gakharia was attacked on January 15 at the Sheraton Batumi Hotel. He was hospitalized with a broken nose and concussion. Mezvrishvili has previously expressed frustration with the investigative process and concerns over the actions of the Sheraton hotel.
