**Russia Launches Drone Attacks on Kyiv**
On January 1, Russia launched drones on the city of Kyiv. The attacks caused fires and damage to buildings, and four people were initially reported injured.
The governor of Kyiv later said that six people were hurt in the attacks. Emergency crews worked through the night to put out fires and rescue people from a damaged building.
**Damage and Injuries**
In the central Pechersk district, a residential building was badly damaged between the fourth and sixth floors. Fires broke out across 70 square meters of the building. One woman was rescued from the building, but many others were trapped inside.
A smaller fire also erupted on the roof of a nearby non-residential building. A local school was damaged when the blast wave shattered windows and doors.
In another part of the city, falling debris damaged garages, vehicles, and tram infrastructure, causing a small fire that covered 20 square meters.
**Previous Attacks**
This is not the first time Russia has attacked Kyiv with drones and missiles. On December 31, Russian forces launched 21 missiles and 40 explosive and decoy drones at the city, as well as Shostka and Odesa.
