**Car Bomb Kills Russian Officer**
A car bomb in occupied Sevastopol killed a high-ranking Russian Navy officer on November 13. The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) was behind the attack, according to a source from the agency.
The officer who died was named Valery Trankovsky. He was chief of staff of the 41st Missile Boat Brigade. The SBU says Trankovsky was responsible for ordering missile strikes against civilian targets in Ukraine.
In July 2022, Trankovsky oversaw a Kalibr missile strike that killed 29 people and injured over 200 more in Vinnytsia. He also led attacks on other cities, including Odesa.
**Russia Loses More Officers**
This is not the first time Russia has lost officers involved in the war against Ukraine. In October, Major Dmitry Pervukha was killed when his car exploded in Russian-occupied Luhansk. Pervukha was accused of war crimes and served in the 273rd Intelligence Center.
Trankovsky held a high rank of captain of 1st class. He had been under surveillance for about a week before the attack, according to Russian media. An improvised explosive device (IED) was placed under his car and detonated remotely.
