**Ukrainian Cyber Specialists Attack Russian Bank**
Ukraine’s military intelligence (HUR) has successfully attacked the systems of Gazprombank, one of Russia’s largest banks. The cyberattack, described as a powerful distributed denial-of-service (DDOS) assault, disrupted the bank’s online and mobile banking services.
Gazprombank serves around 3 million individuals and 45,000 businesses in Russia. The attack rendered the bank’s website inaccessible in France and Germany, and its mobile application also experienced outages.
The cyberattack follows sanctions imposed by the U.S. Treasury on Gazprombank earlier this month. Russia has been targeted with crippling hacker attacks by both Ukraine and Russia itself during the ongoing war against Ukraine.
**Russian Bank Hit with Cyber Attack**
Hundreds of thousands of Russians will be unable to transfer money or carry out online payments due to the attack, according to a source within HUR. The bank’s website and mobile app have been affected in several countries.
Gazprombank is a critical financial institution in Russia, serving millions of individuals and businesses. Its systems were targeted with a powerful DDOS attack, which directs excessive traffic at a website to overload its servers.
**Ukraine and Russia Continue to Trade Blows**
The cyberattack comes amid ongoing efforts by the international community to pressure Russia over its war against Ukraine. Sanctions have been imposed on several Russian entities, including Gazprombank.
In other news, Ukrainian forces intercepted 30 of 44 Russian drones launched overnight, while Russia fired two ballistic missiles during the assault. The Ukrainian military has also reported that North Korean soldiers are stationed in observation posts and checkpoints in Russia’s Kursk Oblast.
**World Leaders Speak Out**
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha strongly opposed any agreements resembling past Yalta or Minsk deals that could legitimize Russian aggression. Meanwhile, the head of the U.K.’s armed forces, Admiral Sir Tony Radakin, warned of a “third nuclear age.”
Romania has also declassified evidence of a social media campaign backed by a “state actor” to boost pro-Russian presidential candidate Calin Georgescu in a recent vote.
