**North Korea Sends 3,000 Troops to Russia**
According to reports from South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, North Korea transferred around 3,000 additional soldiers to Russia in January and February. The move was made to compensate for losses sustained fighting Ukrainian forces.
**High Losses Suffered by North Korean Forces**
President Volodymyr Zelensky previously stated that North Korean forces fighting for Russia had suffered around 4,000 casualties, with two-thirds killed. Ukraine’s military intelligence chief attributed their high losses to a lack of combat experience and reliance on human wave attacks with limited equipment.
**Military Aid from North Korea**
North Korea has become a crucial military partner for Russia, providing artillery shells, missiles, and troops in exchange for oil products and advanced rocket technology. The country has supplied Moscow with short-range ballistic missiles, 170 mm self-propelled howitzers, and 240 mm multiple rocket launchers.
**Ukraine’s Fight Against Russian Forces**
Up to 12,000 North Korean troops were deployed to Kursk Oblast last fall to help Russian forces push back a Ukrainian incursion. However, the tables turned earlier this month when Russian forces, reinforced by North Korean units, launched a counteroffensive and recaptured significant ground, including the town of Sudzha.
**Other Developments**
* Russia launched 86 drones overnight, including Shahed-type attack drones and one Iskander-M ballistic missile.
* Ukrainian troops destroyed a Russian command and observation post in Kursk Oblast.
* A Russian drone strike on Kharkiv injured at least nine people and caused multiple fires.
* Hungary’s Foreign Minister visited Moscow to discuss economic cooperation.
