People familiar with intelligence have said that NATO may intensify its support for Ukraine in response and create partnerships in the Indo-Pacific area.
Bloomberg reports that South Korean intelligence documents, shared with allies, reveal that a second group of North Korean troops is expected to arrive in Russia soon.
The massive weapons flow from Pyongyang and Moscow to Russia, as well as the deployment of North Korean troops in Russia, represents a dramatic increase in military cooperation between both nations. North Korean shells are now reported to make up the majority of Russia’s artillery in Ukraine. Thousands of elite troops are preparing for battle. This partnership challenges Western sanctions and threatens to reshape battlefield dynamics in Ukraine.
Bloomberg reports that a group of 1,500 elite Special Forces troops are already being trained in Russia’s Far East as part of an estimated deployment of 10,000 North Korean soldiers.
The assessment revealed that they were transported between 8 and 13 Oct to Vladivostok after the first visit of Russian naval vessels in North Korean waters since 1990.
The documents also revealed the extent of North Korea’s arms supply to Russia in support of its full-scale invasion against Ukraine.
The analysis revealed that Pyongyang had sent around 8 million rounds of 122mm and 150mm shells made in North Korea since August last year. For the first time, about 100 Hwasong-11 anti-tank missiles and Bulsae-4 Hwasong-11 rockets were also detected on the Ukrainian battlefield.
