**Spain Announces New Military Aid Package for Ukraine**
The government of Spain has promised to give Ukraine 1 billion euros ($1.04 billion) in military aid next year. This was announced by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez on February 24.
Sanchez made this announcement during a visit to Kyiv, the capital city of Ukraine. He said that Spain is committed to helping Ukraine with military equipment and supplies. The new aid package will be part of a 10-year agreement between Ukraine and Spain signed last year.
This is not the first time that Spain has given money to Ukraine for military purposes. In fact, Madrid provided over 1 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine last year. Sanchez said that Spain wants to help Ukraine recover after the war with Russia ends.
Sanchez also spoke about Ukraine’s goal of joining the European Union (EU). He believes that this is an important step forward for the people of Ukraine and will make them safer. Leaders from other countries, such as those in Northern Europe and Canada, were present at the international summit in Kyiv where Sanchez made his announcement.
Other countries also gave new promises to help Ukraine during the same meeting. They said they would give more humanitarian and military aid to support Ukraine’s defense against Russia.
