These were the words of , the Speaker of the , as he welcomed the attendees of the Ambassadors Conference 2022. In his opening speech, the Speaker highlighted the current security environment, regional and global concerns, and Georgia’s foreign policy priorities. He acknowledged that 2022 has been a challenging year for international relations, and in such a difficult time, Georgia must focus on safeguarding its borders, strengthening alliances, and promoting regional stability, security, and prosperity.

He stated that the relationship between Georgia and the EU in 2022 will be remembered in history, as the has solidified Georgia’s sovereignty and independence, which are the legacy of our ancestors. The Speaker praised the efforts of the entire in preparing for EU membership and highlighted the efficient work of state agencies and civil employees in completing the membership application in record time. He also mentioned the significant progress made in implementing the EU’s recommendations, with the Georgian Parliament passing 30% of the necessary laws in 2022.

Papuashvili also touched upon Georgia’s crucial role in transport and transit and its potential in ensuring the energy security of the . He stressed the importance of deepening bilateral cooperation with various countries and the achievements of active parliamentary diplomacy. The Speaker also highlighted Georgia’s support for , both politically and diplomatically, as well as its humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people.

In conclusion, Papuashvili urged the ambassadors to continue their efforts in promoting Georgia’s interests and assured them of the Parliament’s support in this endeavor. He also expressed his confidence that the European Union will recognize Georgia’s progress and efforts in the near future.
