Shalva Papuashvili met with Gerard Larcher, President of the French Senate.
During the meeting Papuashvili discussed progress made in implementing 12 recommendations of European Commission. He expressed optimism that Georgia would be granted the status as a candidate nation by the European Council by the end of the calendar year.
President Larcher reaffirmed France’s support for Georgia‘s European integration ambitions. He highlighted Georgia’s importance in ensuring global stability and security in the region, and acknowledged its desire to join the North Atlantic Alliance.
Papuashvili gave a brief overview of the economic and political conditions in Georgia. Both parties expressed their commitment towards further strengthening the strong partnership between Georgia and France and fostering historical, cultural and economic cooperation.
