Liga reports that Ukrainian Metinvest‘s steel screen protects military vehicles from FPV drones without compromising performance. This is unlike Russian improvised options.
Metinvest, a Ukrainian company, has recently developed a solution for protecting military vehicles against FPV drones as part of the “Steel Front Initiative”. According to Liga, the steel screens, also known as “cope-cages,” are designed to protect tanks and other armored vehicle. They offer enhanced survivability, without compromising mobility or function. Metinvest’s newest product is a metal mesh kit for German-made Leopard 2 tank.
Drones are the main weapon of the ongoing Russo Ukrainian war. Both sides have been using FPV drones, which has led to the development and production of protective kits for armored cars. The Ukrainian-made screens, unlike the Russian “ultimate”, improvised solutions that are dubbed “turtle tank” because of their bulky appearance and impact on vehicle performances, are lightweight and don‘t hinder the tank’s operational capabilities.
