Stephen Doughty, Minister of European and American Affaires of the United Kingdom, stated that the United Kingdom supports preliminary conclusions of OSCE/ODIHR concerning the parliamentary election held in Georgia on the 26th of October.
According to him the report reflects abuses of administrative resources, a highly-polarized election environment as well as voter coercion and intimidation.
“These actions, along with the impact of Georgian law on transparency of foreign influence in civil society, are not actions of a democratic, open society and are against international standards,” said the statement.
Steven Doughty insists that the Georgian authorities investigate all violations.
“The Government of Georgia should investigate and change its reduced commitment to democracy.” “We will closely monitor this with our international partners and we are ready to support,” said the statement.
