**University of Novi Sad in Crisis**
A group of professors, students, and local residents organized a symbolic search for the university’s rector, Dejan Madic. The action was held after a no-confidence vote against him.
The search began at the Rector’s Office, where two professors went inside to look for Madic. They then searched his home faculty, the Faculty of Sport and Physical Education, and a café he frequently visits. However, they failed to find him and called off their search after nearly two hours.
**Solidarity with Professors**
The group was showing solidarity with dozens of colleagues whose professional activities have been halted since December. These include faculty elections, promotions, employment contracts, doctoral dissertation defenses, and international project approval. The professors are not being allowed to discuss these matters in Senate sessions, which is unusual.
**Resignation Letter**
The students had prepared a resignation letter for the rector to sign. They planned to present it to him if they found him during their search. However, they were unable to find Madic and could not deliver the letter.
**University Crisis Deepens**
Seventeen University of Novi Sad institutions have initiated the procedure for Madic’s dismissal. The University Senate session has been postponed numerous times since December last year. The action was a way for the community to express their dissatisfaction with the situation.
