**Students Launch Blood Drive in Belgrade**
The students of the Higher Medical School in Zemun, Belgrade, have taken action to help with the low blood supply in Serbia. They called a blood donor drive after hearing an appeal from Dr Mirjana Knezevic, the head of the Blood Transfusion Institute.
Dr Knezevic had said that the blood reserves were good for only a day and a half. She added that there was a shortage of A+ and O blood types, while AB+ supplies were stable.
The students wanted to organize the blood drive in their school but could not get a team from the Blood Transfusion Institute to help them. Instead, they went to the Zemun hospital to donate their own blood, saying they wanted to set an example for others to follow.
