Students from Novi Sad held a protest march on Tuesday. They walked to the Ministry of Internal Affairs to show support for their friends who were arrested in other cities.
The students said they want the police to follow the law and treat everyone fairly. They are upset about police actions during a blockade of the Novi Sad City Assembly building.
Many students joined the march, waving flags and shouting slogans like “You won’t arrest us” and “There’s no fear.”
During the protest, students called for an investigation into the police treatment of students on March 18. They want to know why some people were arrested while others were not.
One student said: “We demand to know the reasons for the arrests, who was taken into custody, and why the police apply one standard to us and another to other citizens.”
After trying to submit a request to the police at several stations, students finally had their request accepted.
