Students Protested Against Informer Headquarters
Students gathered in front of the Informer headquarters on Saturday. They protested against the way the Informer, a popular newsletter, reports news.
The students said that the Informer is not a real media outlet because it doesn’t report facts truthfully. Instead, they claim it publishes stories that favor the government and create fear among people.
A student read from the Code of Journalists of Serbia. The code says that journalists must be impartial and report only what’s true. The students said the Informer does not follow these rules.
One student said that the Informer doesn’t inform, but rather persecutes its readers with false information. They added that a journalist should not hate, but the Informer’s rhetoric creates an atmosphere where violence seems acceptable.
The students did not expect a response from the Informer. However, they wanted to remind them of their responsibility as journalists to report truthfully.
After the speech, the students hung parts of the Code of Journalists on the gate of the Informer offices as a reminder of their duties.
