Ukraine’s Defense Procurement Agency Head to Stay in Post
The supervisory board of Ukraine’s Defense Procurement Agency has recommended that the current director, Maryna Bezrukova, keep her job for another year. This decision was made public on Facebook by the agency on January 20.
The reason behind this recommendation is based on an evaluation of Bezrukova’s performance and the need to maintain stability in procurement management during wartime. The supervisory board believes that she is doing a good job and should continue to lead the agency for at least another year.
Bezrukova was appointed as the head of the Defense Procurement Agency from Ukraine’s energy company, Ukrenergo. This move shows that Ukraine is following NATO standards by separating lethal and non-lethal procurement agencies into two separate boards.
The supervisory board also announced that it will be starting an independent audit with the help of the International Board of Auditors of NATO (IBAN). The results of this audit will help create a “center of excellence for Ukraine’s military procurement”.
