Supreme Council of Adjara holds first session, opposition does not enter

**New Members of Adjara Elected**

On November 26, the newly elected members of the Supreme Council of Adjara held their first session. The council was formed after elections on 26, which were part of ‘s national parliamentary elections.

However, opposition parties are not taking part in legislative activities. They claim that the parliamentary elections were rigged and want the results be annulled.

**Protests Outside**

A protest rally took place outside the Supreme Council building. The protesters called the new council “unconstitutional” and “illegitimate”. They said that the council’s gathering was against the law.

**Council Members Elected**

The Supreme Election of Adjara has announced the results of the elections. The winning parties are:

* 13 mandates for the Dream party
* 4 mandates for the Unity-UNM
* 2 mandates for Gakharia for Georgia
* 1 mandate for the Coalition for Change and 1 mandate for Strong Georgia

** Elected**

The Georgian Dream faction has nominated as Chairman of the Supreme Council. Ramaz Jincharadze was elected Deputy Chairman.

**Committee Chairs**

The following members were elected as chairpersons of committees:

* Pridon Putkaradze – Committee on Agrarian and Environmental Issues
* Tsotne Ananidze – Committee on Human Rights
* Davit Batsikadze – Committee on , Science, and Sports
* Tite Aroshidze – Committee on Constitutional, Legal and Procedural Matters

**Committee Members**

The following members were elected to committees staffed by Georgian Dream party members:

* Committee on Agrarian and Environmental Issues: Vakhtang Beridze, Marine Gvianidze, Mindia Diasamidze, Pridon Putkaradze
* Committee on Human Rights Protection: Tsotne Ananidze, Mindia Diasamidze, Pati Khalvashi, Ramaz Jincharadze
