**Ukrainian Tennis Player Wins Big at Australian Open**
On January 20, Elina Svitolina won her fourth match at the Australian Open. She beat Russian player Veronika Kudermetova in a match that lasted just over an hour.
Svitolina is the only Ukrainian tennis player to make it to the quarterfinals in Melbourne, Australia. Before beating Kudermetova, she had already defeated several other players, including Jasmine Paolini and Caroline Dolehide.
The match against Kudermetova was a close one, but Svitolina came out on top with a score of 6-4, 6-1. She served five aces and converted five break points in the game.
Svitolina was down 1-4 in the first set, but she fought back to win the next five games and take control of the match. When asked about her performance, Svitolina said she was just trying to “fight” and “put my head down and get back to work”.
This is a personal best for Svitolina, who has also made it to the quarterfinals in 2018 and 2019. She will now face American player Madison Keys in the next round.
