**Sweden and Denmark Boost Defense with $2.2 Billion Deal**
Two countries, Sweden and Denmark, have signed a major deal to buy 40 new CV90 infantry fighting vehicles for Ukraine. They will also get more combat vehicles themselves.
**Ukraine Gets New Military Vehicles**
The Swedish government says it has agreed with the British company BAE Systems Hägglunds to buy 205 CV90 infantry fighting vehicles (IFVs). Of these, 40 will be sent to Ukraine. This is part of a bigger package of military aid for Ukraine, which Sweden announced in December 2024.
**Sweden and Denmark Get More Vehicles**
The deal also means that Sweden and Denmark will get more combat vehicles themselves. Denmark will receive 115 new CV90 IFVs, while Sweden will get 50 to replace the ones it previously sent to Ukraine. This is all part of a bigger effort by both countries to strengthen their own defense capabilities.
**A Safer Europe**
The Swedish Defense Minister said that these investments would make Europe safer, especially for Ukraine. The total cost of the deal is estimated at $2.2 billion.
