**Sweden Criticizes Georgia‘s Government**
The Swedish government is unhappy with the way elections were held in Georgia last October. According to Sweden, the election process was unfair and had many problems.
Swedish Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard spoke about this in her country’s parliament. She said that it is not okay for the government to use violence against peaceful protesters. Stenergard also asked for sanctions (punishments) against those who were responsible for this behavior.
Despite these criticisms, Sweden still supports groups in Georgia who want democracy and closer ties with Europe. Stenergard emphasized the importance of continuing to support these movements.
