Ukrainian forces to get more help near Donetsk town.
The leader of Ukraine’s military, Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, said on November 29 that Ukrainian troops stationed near the towns of Pokrovsk and Kurakhove will receive more supplies. This includes ammunition, weapons, and equipment.
Before making this announcement, Syrskyi visited Ukrainian units in the area where fighting is taking place. He met with commanders to talk about problems they are facing and how he can help them.
Syrskyi said that Ukraine’s military is still able to stop the enemy and cause significant losses. He praised his soldiers for their bravery and resilience in the face of Russian aggression.
Concerns have been growing in Ukraine about a possible new push by Russia in the south, near the town of Zaporizhzhia. At the same time, Russian forces are continuing to advance in the east, focusing on Pokrovsk and Kurakhove.
Russia has taken control of a large area of land over the past week. According to reports from an independent news source called Agentstvo, Russia has captured 234.79 square kilometers (90 square miles) of land.
Ukraine’s military is struggling to replenish its ranks, and Western countries are not sending as many arms as Ukraine had hoped for. The US government wants to speed up the delivery of military supplies before a new administration takes office in January.
The US has given Ukraine some new capabilities to fight back against Russia, such as long-range strikes on Russian territory or anti-personnel mines.
