Public Defender: The last week has seen a number of important legislative changes, but some of them don’t meet the standards for human rights protection.

Ombudsman : We met with 327 arrested people at the rally. Of these, 225 indicated improper treatment and 157 had physical injuries. It is unacceptable. These cases should not be investigated

Levan Ioseliani : According to our assessment the cell where Saba is kept does not meet the standard. We provided information to the prison institution and requested that a response be given to transfer her to a different cell.

Ombudsman : The rally was peaceful, and there was no need to disperse it. We call on the Ministry of Internal Affairs not to disperse the gathering, to detain participants, or to use special means.

Levan Ioseliani : Today I visited in isolation cells 34 people arrested for protests, among whom I saw Beqa Corshia. He has no injuries

Public Defender: The police used excessive force during the arrest and detention of Aleko Elisashvili. He has bruises on his face and scratches that indicate a back injury as a result.

Giorgi Gakharia, former representative of the government: I did not hide like I do today. If there was a conflict, I was right on the front lines. I didn’t go out and party while people were harassed.

Public Defender: “Alarming”, 80% of detainees report mistreatment, violence by police

Public Defender: 124 of the 156 people arrested claim they were subjected inhumane treatment and violence. This is a very alarming indicator.

Public Defender: Law enforcement officers arrested anyone they could reach and abused detainees repeatedly in groups. There was a violation to the prohibition of torture and inhuman and humiliating treatment

Levan Ioseliani says it is illegal to use force against a reporter who covers current affairs. This is a crime. Citizens are being detained during live broadcasts and my representatives are in isolation cell
