Tamar Chergoleishvili, a leader of the “Federalists” party, made some strong claims on a TV show. She said that Mikheil Saakashvili, Georgia‘s third president, wanted to make a deal with the government to get out of prison.
According to Tamar Chergoleishvili, Saakashvili proposed this deal several months ago. He allegedly said: “I will stop my party if you let me go.” This was supposed to be part of a secret agreement between Saakashvili and the government.
Tamar Chergoleishvili also mentioned Grigol Vashadze, a Georgian politician who works with the ruling party “Georgian Dream”. She said that Vashadze has been cooperating with “Georgian Dream” since last year. This means that Saakashvili might have used Vashadze to negotiate with the government.
Tamar Chergoleishvili thinks that Mikheil Saakashvili is trying to get out of prison by making deals with the government. She believes that he wants to stop his party, but only if it helps him.
