The situation in occupied Abkhazia remains tense. A protest against an investment agreement between Russia and Abkhazia turned violent.
Tear Gas Used Against Protesters
Protesters used a car to break down part of the fence and entered a restricted area near the parliament building. They clashed with law enforcement officers, who were met with eggs and bottles from the protesters.
Investment Agreement Plan Foiled
The Abkhaz “parliament” was supposed to ratify an investment agreement project between Sokhumi (the capital of Abkhazia) and Moscow today. However, the session failed because the so-called “deputies” refused to approve the agenda.
Protesters Demand Action
The protesters demand that the “deputies” hold a meeting and vote against the investment agreement project once and for all.
