Ex-Security Head Refuses to Testify in Embezzlement Case
Teimuraz Janashia, the former head of Georgia’s special state protection service, will not testify in a court case where he is accused of embezzling 9 million GEL.
Janashia’s lawyer said his client does not trust the court and believes the case has been politicized. The lawyer stated that Janashia will share his position in his final speech.
Mikheil Saakashvili, the former president of Georgia who is also accused in this case, was supposed to testify today. However, his lawyer said they had not agreed on what he would say.
The court session has been postponed until both parties have made their final statements.
